As I watched all of this unfold this week I was sickened by the casual response most employees in these companies expressed. The majority who were interviewed would not even give their names. Perhaps they thought it might impede their chances of another job offer. Rightfully so, they just ruined the lives of many hard working people and they should be ashamed and worried about what has occurred, moreover, the stigma they now have to carry on their resumes as well. I am one of the lucky ones who learned my lesson long ago. After making a whopping 1.85% on a 401K managed by someone thousands of miles away, I decide never to throw money at people again. The point is, when all the smoke has settled from this meltdown people will take a long hard look at where their money goes. If you saw the news this week you would have noticed reporters standing in front of these opulent skyscrapers in New York where these companies are based. Just remember you helped pay for that if you invested in these firms. On the other hand, you really can’t blame the government for stepping in and trying to help these companies. Most say, let them fold it is their fault, but there is too much at stake with our economy right now. We need stability with our economic situation and letting these companies go under would create more havoc. I just want the leaders of these companies held accountable for this debacle before the government piggy bank runs dry. We don’t need congress to hold hearings, we need leadership. We don’t need more regulation; we need to take control of our own destiny the way this country was set up to be. People just need to get off their butts and do their homework and not just throw their hard earned money at other people to do it for them. There are too many people to blame for this financial arrogance and now it is time to move forward. |

Unless you live in a cave I am sure you are well aware what happened this week to our financial market. The millions of people who invested in Wall Street now can only lick their wounds and hope for a better future. My neighbor who is retired lost his financial security due to the negligence of these so-called reputable companies.
