Desperate Times, Desperate Measures by Jerry Maldonado PDF Print E-mail

A true experience in these times really hit home this week. I was working on a new project in my office when I heard my wife call my name in desperation. By the sound of her voice I knew something was very wrong. I ran upstairs and noticed her eyes swell with tears as her voice cracked to tell me someone had hacked into our bank account.

I took a moment to catch my breath then check the computer to see for myself. It became clear to me that whoever was doing this was systematically taking every last dime with bogus charges and setting up new accounts with our money. We knew we had to act fast on this one. Starting with the bank, then onto each creditor, we explained our situation with little results. Most of these companies sounded compassionate, but still informed us that it would take many days to get our money back if we could. Great system, I guess?

Point is, what bothered me the most was not the theft, but why? In other words, it is hard to believe people with such intelligence could pull off what they did and not use their God-given gift to create a system so this doesn’t happen to others. They obviously know the secret so instead of taking a couple hundred dollars they could potentially make millions. I bet Bill Gates would love to hear from them?

Unfortunately, this happens everyday to a lot of hard working people. Often these criminals blame money as the root cause for such stupidity, I call that an excuse. If money runs your life then you have a problem. There are plenty of ways to make money in this great country, but most people are just plain lazy. Life will never deny a person true abundance if they follow their dream and give it 110%.

To the hackers who do this, I applaud you. This is what separates the men from the boys. The men go out and create. The boys steal what the men have created. In desperate times, the boys will always be boys. In the end, the boys will always get spanked.
