I have a friend named Stan, he is an investment banker and he recently celebrated his fifty-fifth birthday. Until a year ago, he had it all, plenty of money, a big home, a few luxury cars, expensive suits etc. Then, he went through an expensive divorce that cost him millions of dollars and almost broke his spirit. I bumped into Stan a week ago and I was really surprised when he told me that he now feels thirty years younger. He had recently met Debbie, who is only twenty-two years old gal. She had moved to Los Angeles four months earlier in pursuit of the Hollywood dream. Her goal is to become a successful model or actress. Stan showed me pictures of Debbie and she is cute and sexy. He told me that having sex with women his own age caused him to feel as if she was turning into an old man, that his best days were long gone but having sex with sexy young woman causes him to feel like a young man again. Now he had a new zest for life.
Young love doesn’t come cheap for a middle-aged guy. He got Debbie an apartment and bought her a little car so she can go to all those auditions. He is also giving her a few hundred dollars a week allowance she doesn’t have to work a full time job. Looking back now at his expensive divorce settlement, Stan told me that “the revelation was worth the money” because after he recovered from the pain of it all, he found a new sense of freedom.
Stan feels as if he won the grand prize because he found a humble, down to earth, mid-western girl who does everything possible to make her man happy. I told Stan that it only a matter of time before living in LA changes Debbie and she could end up becoming hard to deal with just like all those other former beauty queens who are vain, self centered and shallow. He told me that he didn’t care. Stan told me that when his fling with Debbie is over, he is going to start traveling across the country and across the world to places where women are raised to respect men. Even though Stan is spending a few thousand dollars a month on his young girlfriend, he doesn’t care because he is having a great time. Stan believes that having sex with a young woman is the best vitamin pill that a man can have in order to stay young in mind and spirit.
“So, if you follow your heart, if you take a chance and in the end you lose one hundred dollars or ten thousand dollars but you end up with a revelation that was worth the money, you are truly ahead”. That is what Stan firmly believes and I agree with him. Even though an expensive divorce almost destroyed him, being a “sugar daddy’ to a much younger woman has sent him in a new direction, down a road that he is happy to travel.
Stan has benefited in two ways. First of all, the road to enlightenment is all about revelation, self-discovery and achieving a high level of awareness and sometimes it can cost money but it is well worth it. Secondly, for an average looking, middle age man to end up in bed with a sexy young woman at the end of a long day is like a quick visit to Heaven.
Speaking in a reflective tone of voice Stan said “ I really feel sorry for all those guys who work hard every day to pay the bills and support their family, who endure a ton of grief from their bosses and clients. Then at the end of day, they go home to an out of shape, nagging wife, who views having sex with her husband as an unpleasant chore. No man should settle for that type of life.”
Stan told me that after his wife became like that, he knew the marriage was over and it was time to get a divorce. It was a painful experience because during the divorce his wife did her best to make him feel guilty for her unhappiness but Stan knew it was the right thing to do. He didn’t want to spend the rest of his life with a woman who didn’t appreciate or love him. In his heart, he knew that somewhere there was something better waiting for him. He refused to believe that life is a downhill ride once a guy hits middle age. Today, he is a very happy man.
The lesson here is that even the divorce almost ruined him financially, it opened his eyes to the possibilities of what the future may bring him and because of that, “the revelation was worth the money” because it brought Stan his freedom, a way out of a miserable situation. Now Stan gets more “bang’ for his money that he ever got before. No man or woman should continue to live with a spouse who doesn’t respect him/her or makes a daily effort to make him/her happy. No one stay married to anyone who merely takes him/her for granted.
