Karen WrightConsider this a not-so-gentle breeze to blow the cloaking fog from your mind. It’s here to remind you to wake up and look around.  Is this the life you’d imagined - hoped for - sacrificed for? Of all the people in your life, are you one of them? On your list of tasks and priorities, are you present? When will you be? Tomorrow? Next week?

In our immortal daydream we need to realize that some tomorrows never come. Will any of us know in advance that our last breath was our last breath? Some religious cultures believe that each of us is born with a specific number of breaths before our maker calls us home. On the sliding scale of now till then, where are you? It’s a rhetorical question but still worth a pause. Time is always too short. For everything. Even for the living of our lives.

So here’s your chance! Walk to the closest mirror; look deep into your eyes and say, “I’m not waiting any longer!” Then immediately begin something that you’ve longed to do. Do it now - or at least take the first step. I know the time isn’t exactly right. You have so much to do now. You have obligations and goals and work.

After you’ve spewed forth every excuse you can think of look back into the mirror and tell yourself you aren’t worth it. That’s what’s going on. Your excuses are other people’s expectations for you and they are outweighing your own. Look at the disappointment in your eyes. You’re letting yourself down again. STOP! You have another choice. Living your dream will provide you with more energy than you’ve ever imagined. Plenty of energy to meet others’ expectations…if you still want to.

Commit right now to gaining more balance in your life. Balance isn’t divvying yourself up in equal portions to all the people and things in your life. It’s giving equal time to yourself, your dreams, your needs. Put you back in the equation of your life. And the next time you look in the mirror you’ll see excitement in those eyes. And you’re worth it!
