Take the case of Jane. Back in March, Jane had to deal with the unexpected loss of her young husband and the father of her three children. My wife and I along with several others have been there to offer help anyway we can. Whether it is work around the house, offering rides, or even the littlest thing as a shoulder to cry on, Jane and her children know they’re never alone. Behind the scenes Jane and her family still suffer tremendously. Their lives have been turned upside down and sometimes no amount of support comforts them. As this family tries to develop a new life something always seems to happen to reopen the old wounds from their tragic loss. One recent Sunday morning I called Jane and to this day I can’t remember why. Jane told me she was involved in a major auto accident and had been hospitalized overnight. At first I thought why now? As she explained further I realized her prayers had been answered. You see before the accident Jane had what she called “a day from hell.” Everything and anything went wrong to the point where she dropped to her knees, pounded the floor, and asked God to listen to her. Jane asked repeatedly for help as the frustrations and grief mounted from such a terrible day. That night as she laid in the hospital after her accident a young doctor asked Jane about her marital status. Choking up; Jane divulged that she was recently widowed. Feeling her pain the young doctor handed Jane her business card with a person’s number scribbled on the back. The doctor explained that her mother was the executive director of a large grief counseling service that specializes in people that have gone through exactly what Jane experienced. What makes this story so compelling is Jane had a choice after her accident to be transported to a hospital nearby which she declined. The closer hospital was the one where Jane had to identify her now deceased husband. She explained that it was too painful to experience that place again. Despite her injuries, Jane chose a hospital across town and now knows why. Her prayers had been answered. Had she gone to the closer hospital on the recommendation of the paramedics Jane would not have met a young doctor who offered her hope with a name on a business card. Some of you who read this might think this is just a coincidence? I think this was fate. Jane asked for help and now has some direction to help her family and herself. If you ask, you shall receive. Just ask Jane. A person who has been through so much these past few months and now can see a light beginning to form at the end of the tunnel. This is not a magic pill, but she realizes that God heard her cries for help. ©Jerry Maldonado 2009-all rights reserved - This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |

Anytime an accident of any kind happens there are people who don’t think about the reason it happened, all they do is ask why? Undoubtedly, those involved have a right, but there are some who understand that their prayers might have just been answered.
