Jerry MaldonadoMy apologies to all my politically correct Christmas hating Americans, but the season is upon us once again. This Christian holiday; that for some reason is not accepted anymore as a religious holiday, is just a around the corner.

Yet I wonder why those same holiday haters are out there doing the same thing we holiday worshipers enjoy. The same people who caved in to this belief that Christmas is for gift giving and not worshiping often baffles my mind, but who am I to judge?

Granted, I enjoy everything Christmas has to offer. The lights, sounds, and spirituality that complete this package of holiday cheer are proudly displayed in my home for all to see. I am not one to hold my tongue on this and cheerfully offer a “Merry Christmas” to all I greet.

This is not arrogance or pushing my religion onto others, but a simple philosophy about the season and what it stands for. In other words, I am proud to celebrate what I believe in.

Call me what you wish, but realize you can respect others opinions, beliefs or actions, but not those who try to suppress what you believe in. I wish those with the same belief to be proud of what they believe in and not follow the trend of radical political correctness that is like a cancer spreading across this nation.

Any rational person would respect your beliefs just as you already do theirs. The non-believers do have a place and are welcome to express it. America was not founded on repression of ones beliefs and the lawyers, politicians and others with power of influence should respect that.

All of us should be happy for the freedom of expression, religion, and culture that is envied by so many other nations around the world. Be honored for those who sacrificed their lives so we can express what we believe in.

Most important, there is a reason for the season. Don’t be afraid to say “Merry Christmas” to those around you. The beauty of the holiday season is all around us, enjoy it with all of its glory no matter what or who you believe in.

Merry Christmas!
